Use this box to search the instruments database for an exchange-traded bond to add to your portfolio.
Note: You will be specifying search parameters for a database query. Be aware that inaccurate field entries may result in an unsuccessful search. You may leave non-required fields blank, or enter partial names and use different value parameters =, <=, etc. to either broaden or limit search results.
Step 1: In the Type menu, click the type of bond instrument you are searching for.
Step 2: In the Subtype menu, click the appropriate bond subtype. The choices are specific to the entry selected in the Type text field. For example, if you click Fixed Rate as the bond type, then click Government, Corporate, or British Government Treasury as the subtype.
Step 3: In the Name text box, type in the name of the bond if you know the exact name of the bond. You can type a portion of the name or leave the text box blank, then click a specific instrument name after the search is done.
Step 4: In the Issuer text box, type the exact name of the organization issuing the bond. You can type a portion of the name or leave the text box blank, then click a specific Issuer name after the search is done.
Step 5: In the Coupon Rate text box, type the coupon rate, or interest rate payment specified in the bond, up to six decimal places. Then click the appropriate value parameter =, <=, <, >=, >, and =, which means not equal to.
Step 6: In the Maturity date box, click the down arrow, then click the maturity date, or final date when bond principle is due. You can also type in the date in the format of Jan 1, 2000. Then click the appropriate value parameter =, <=, <, >=, >, and =, which means not equal to.
Step 7: In the Credit Rating menu, click the appropriate Standard & Poor's bond credit rating.
Step 8: In the Currency list, click the appropriate bond currency denomination. This is a required command.
Step 9: In the CUSIP text box, type the standard nine-character bond identifier as assigned by the CUSIP Service Bureau, operated by Standard & Poor's for the American Bankers Association. Other text fields are be ignored when you enter the CUSIP identifier.
