Use this box to search the instrument database for an exchange-traded future to add to your portfolio.
Note: You will be specifying search parameters for a database query. Be aware that inaccurate field entries may result in an unsuccessful search. You may leave non-required fields blank, or enter partial names and use different value parameters =, <=, etc. to either broaden or limit search results.
Step 1: In the Type menu, click the type of future you are searching for.
Step 2: In the Name text box, type in the name of the bond if you know the exact name of the bond. You can type a portion of the name or leave the text box blank, then click a specific instrument name after the search is done.
Step 3: In the Underlier text box, type the name of the asset on which the future is written. You can type a portion of the Underlier or leave the text box blank, then click a specific Underlier after the search is done.
Step 4: In the Expiry date box, click the down arrow, click the date when the future must be settled. You can also type in the date in the format of Jan 1, 2000. Then click the appropriate value parameter =, <=, <, >=, >, and =, which means not equal to.
Step 5: In the Strike Price text box, type the stated price per share for which the underlying instrument may be purchased call or sold put upon exercise of the option contract. The text box automatically extends your entry to six decimal places. Then click the appropriate value parameter =, <=, <, >=, >, and =, which means not equal to.
Step 6: In the Currency list, click the appropriate currency denomination of the future as specified in the contract. This is a required command.
Step 7: In the RIC text box, type in the Reuters Identification Code (RIC), if available. Other text fields are be ignored when you enter the RIC.
